There is plenty that Lexoris is withholding, by choice or because of his difficulties with the language. But he does want to know things, and one must risk giving away a little if they wish to learn a little in return. One of the captains behind gives away something himself: a hiss at the word 'gods', and Loki knows that word is both recognized and not especially respected. At least when an outsider invokes it. Lexoris is just quiet for another moment or two, tracing out implications.
